March/April 2010

Dear Friends,

Over time, new agencies and companies start-up as they see opportunities for profit or to fill a need that has not been addressed. Hopefully most of them, whether they are for profit or not for profit, will go through a period of growth and maturity. 1in6 is no different.

From the beginning 1in6 has set as its mission to help the survivors of unwanted childhood sexual abuse live healthier and happier lives. Being the new kid on the block has been exactly the challenge that we expected and yet recent successes have shown that we are turning the corner. We are seeing clear signs that our message is getting out; there is help for male survivors.

Traffic to the 1in6 website has shown dramatic growth. We are averaging approximately 500 hits to the site per day. On a recent day, traffic rose to about 5,000 hits, due to great news regarding one of our Board members. Some of these were curiosity seekers but others, as evidenced by the comments made, were clearly survivors looking for help.

The fundraising efforts of 1in6 are also yielding results that will allow us, in conjunction with the Men's Project in Canada, to provide training for therapists and other professionals to assist our clients in healing. All good things!

As we move forward we will not deviate from our mission. We ask for your support in helping us deal with the one in six males that have been sexually abused at some point in their lives.

Thank you for your support. Together we ARE making a difference.

Sincerely,

Greg Light
Board Chair
